Lewis, Clark and Sacagawea

Last week we transitioned from learning about landforms to discovering who Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and Sacagawea are. After reading some books and watching a BrainPopJr. video, we each made a map showing the path that Lewis and Clark traveled, adding landforms that are represented in our country.

Another amazing assignment that the kids completed involved writing a postcard to then president Thomas Jefferson from the perspective of Lewis, Clark, or Sacagawea. Students had to include things that they saw on their trip, activities that they completed on their trip, and/or feelings that were felt along the trip. After writing, students had to create the front of the postcard by illustrating one of the things written about in their postcard. Check out some examples below…they turned out great! 🙂

This upcoming week we will complete our summative project for this unit as well our reflection piece for our IB portfolios. Lots of great things ahead! 🙂
