Shadow Puppets

We studied light in our last I.B. unit and over the past few weeks we have been making shadow puppets with Mrs. Wigdale as an extension activity. Making our puppets involved lots of fine motor skills: tracing, cutting, and hole punching. We also learned three new science words: transparent: lets no light pass through; translucent: lets some light pass through; and opaque: let light pass completely through. We finished our puppets today and enjoyed putting on a little puppet show using the artificial light from the Promethean board 🙂

I wonder if your child can tell you why the “eye” of the lion appears white, while the rest of the lion is black? Ask them!
