Sound with Ms. Wigdale

After a short hiatus, Ms. Wigdale was back with us this week to reinforce some of the science concepts we have been working on. This week we reviewed what causes sound (vibrations) and how sound travels (in a straight path but in waves). Two experiments helped us understand these ideas even better. Here we are using tuning forks to hear sounds and see that the tuning forks are vibrating (we can tell because when we place them in water, it splashes!). The class also used a Slinky to demonstrate how sound travels in waves. The coolest part was hearing the “Star Wars” like sounds that the Slinky produced 🙂 Go science!
