120th Day

Last Tuesday we celebrated the 120th day of school! Why 120, you ask? Well, in Kindergarten, students are expected to count and know their numbers up to 100. In first grade that expands to 120. Since the 100th day is celebrated in Kindergarten, we decided to celebrate the 120th day here in first grade πŸ™‚ Each class rotated through 3 stations in other classrooms where they participated in 120 day activities. Our classroom was a “building” station, where groups had to build structures with 120 cups. With some planning and lots of cooperation, our class rocked it! Here we are in action. I think some of the structures were taller than the kids!!

We ignited our creativity once more with an art project where each child “transformed” the number 120 into something else. Each child had to think, plan, and then execute. Wow – I was impressed. Check out a few of my favorites. Can you find the numbers 1, 2, and 0 in each picture?

Do you just love these or what?! Our class is SO creative and artistic! Ask your child about the activities they did with Mrs. Perry and Ms. Battle πŸ™‚
