Atlanta History Center

Yesterday we had an amazing field trip to the Atlanta History Center! After crossing over the time bridge, we ended up on the Tully Smith Farm in 1864. We visited many different areas on the farm including the blacksmith, the woodsmith, Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s house, the slave quarters, and the kitchen! This trip was such a great way for the children to see many of the things from “long ago” that we have been learning about! A few of my favorite things were making a candle as a class and learning how scrap pieces of cloth were used to make dolls. Lucky us – we even got to take a hand made doll back to the classroom! I wonder what your child’s favorite part of the trip was?
