Wind Vanes

Today we finished our second weather tool – a wind vane! Great job to those kids who went home and talked with their parents about the tool to find out the name. We learned today that we can call it both a wind vane or a weather vane! We began making the tool on Wednesday by learning about a compass and how it shows directions. I then showed the different parts of the wind vane and the kids gave suggestions of how we could put them together to make a usable tool. We figured it out and added our arrow today. When we took them outside today it wasn’t windy AT ALL. Big bummer. But we still had fun trying and I told the kids to try again this week or just use a fan to see how their wind vane works 🙂
