Hot Air Rises, Cold Air Sinks

Ms. Wigdale is teaching us lots of cool things on Thursdays. Last week we learned that the atoms in a solid are very close together; the atoms in a liquid are a little looser – allowing them to take the shape of their container; and the atoms in a gas are very free flowing.

We did two experiments this week to show that hot air rises and cold air sinks. Here are a few snapshots …. see if your child can explain what happened!
