Cooperation in Action

Over the course of this week, we have enjoyed reading our weekly story, “I Can! Can You?” from our Treasures series, in many different ways — whole group, whisper reading to ourselves, and partner reading. I love allowing our class to partner read because it exposes them to different inflections, various fluency levels, and is a great cooperation strategy in which two students must work together to read and understand a text. Students can offer their peers positive feedback and even ask questions to help monitor comprehension. I love circulating around the classroom while our class partner reads to analyze reading and decoding skills from each student and group.
