Spirit Day #2 was a huge hit yesterday! During art day we made pet sea turtles and rotated to Ms. Battle and Ms. Hoover’s classes where we did a guided HUSKY drawing 🙂 🙂 and made a sand castle art project. We also did a really cool tape name/initial project where the kids made their name or initial with tape, painted around their tape, and then pulled the tape off to see the empty space when the paint was dry. The final result was really cool and set up was easy — definitely something you could do this summer! 🙂 Check out some highlights from ART DAY below!
Yesterday was our first spirit day: Relaxing Beach Day! We made summer bucket lists (in the shape of buckets!), drew and painted underwater scenes, and even were able to catch some rays and read on our towels outside (we beat the rain – score!). I LOVED all of the beach-y clothing, hats, and shades… we were looking ready for the beach! 🙂
Today is Art Day! The kids will rotate through two other teachers’ classrooms and do some unique art activities. Here in our classroom we will have some “free choice” art time, as well as a few guided activities. Be on the lookout for some pictures tonight! 🙂
Today we had an amazing opportunity to become engineers! Chloe’s mom came in to do a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) lesson on building structures. We learned about different structures around the world, and things that her company has constructed here locally! Afterwards, we each became engineers and built a model of a structure using construction paper. I was truly amazed by the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that our class showed ☺️ We were lucky to have Mr. McBride pop in for the lesson and even create his own model! Check out some pictures below!
Our animal research books are complete! Thanks so much to Alden’s mom for binding them for us last week — they looks very professional now 🙂 We spent some time on Friday sharing our books within our class and to some of our peers in Ms. Battle’s class. We practiced our reading skills and listening skills, and just enjoyed some time sharing our amazing work. I’m hoping to let our class share their books with some Kindergarten classes this week, and after that they will come home. I hope you can find a perfect spot on the bookshelf of coffee table at home for your child’s book! 🙂
Today we had a really cool opportunity to work with the group TICCIT and learn about how trees can be used to make paper boxes, like cereal boxes! We watched a short video about the program and then were given our very own tree seedlings to plant (and a pretty awesome coloring book and pencil, too 🙂 ). Hopefully your child told you, but the seedling can go directly into the ground, box and all! Happy planting 🙂
Field day was absolutely amazing! Our class looked stellar in their gray gear and were such great sports with each activity 🙂 Check out some of the action below:
🙂 Please check your email this afternoon for information about your child’s homework this weekend (IB portfolio reflection). Stay dry today!
